We’re on a mission to make it easy and accessible for any company in the insurance, legal and medical space to understand medical documents quickly using AI. Every week, we process hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, saving our customers hours and hours of manual processing time, and helping them process medical claims much more quickly.

Wisedocs is a fast-growing, seed stage startup, our team is made up of startup and scaleup veterans and we’re looking for talent that loves the entrepreneurial atmosphere as much as we do. You’ll be asked to work in a fast-moving environment, and to develop new expertise very quickly. Responsibilities

• As a core part of the Engineering team, you will deliver features for the automation platform and our machine learning engine
• You will further define and deliver customer-facing features as we scale into growing customer demand, expertly augmenting our core product with insightful benefits
• You will supervise and guide team members on best practices and solutions
• Make recommendations as to feasibility of implementation of modified or new technologies
• and / or frameworks
• Participate in as well as lead a scrum-based agile development process
• Ensure team output and timely deliverables
• Improve development processes to enhance productivity and efficiency
• This role will be 50% management and 50% coding

Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• Technical engineering manager who is hands-on and can code
• 8+ years of hands-on development experience and 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
• Knowledgeable about best practices, Restful APIs, unit-testing, and design patterns
• Experience working with both frontend and backend codebases (Full-Stack)
• Knowledge of JavaScript and familiarity with frameworks like Vue.js or React.js
• Good knowledge of Python. Experience with Django highly desirable.
• Knowledge of GraphQL is an asset
• Knowledge of Relational Database: SQL, Oracle, Data Modelling
• Experience working at a startup an asset
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS
• Good knowledge of tools/hardware and languages like Linux, Git, Docker
• You have an understanding of automation practices throughout the AGILE development, build and deployment phases of the application life-cycle.
• You are an adaptable and proficient engineer; comfortable with frequently changing work items and scope and able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks in an efficient manner
• You have demonstrated expertise in building and running large-scale data processing and analytics systems leveraging the open-source ecosystem across the development stack
• You have experience driving design discussions, performing code reviews and providing critical suggestions for fixes and improvements
• You have extremely strong written and spoken communication, with the ability to effectively change communication style based on the audience (executive leadership, marketing, management, product, engineering, data scientists)
• Ability to explain complex technical topics at appropriate levels of detail for each audience
• You’ve successfully recruited great people to your teams or have participated as a leader in the interview process
• You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility, and you see challenges as opportunities for growth
