Role overview
About Clovyr
Clovyr makes it super easy for people and businesses of all technical skill levels to find and use software that treats them better than data-hungry SaaS apps. We help open source projects (especially those with complex tech stacks) grow their community of contributors and get their apps into more peopleâs hands. The Clovyr platform makes self-hosting anywhere from a home server to your own cloud account simple and safe.
We care deeply about privacy-conscious design, re-decentralizing the web, and building systems that give people choice and control without sacrificing usability.
Clovyr is recently funded and growing quickly! âď¸

About the Sales Engineer / Implementation Engineer role:
This is a technical role that reports to the VP of Engineering, while supporting Clovyrâs growing Sales team.
- Work with the Sales team to introduce Clovyrâs platform and applications to potential customers and partners, who include startups/SMBs and open source projects
- Learn about potential clientsâ current devtools ecosystem and how users find and run their apps. Help them understand how Clovyr can be of value to their team and their users
- Configure and present client-specific demos
- Configure and test apps and dev environments during the onboarding process, which may also include technical writing
- Build prototypes and proofs-of-concept that support go-to-market goals
- Work with the product & engineering team to make the Clovyr platform awesome
- Some content creation - e.g. documenting demos in blogs and videos to share with a wider audience
Your Experience & Skills
- 2+ years engineering/development work (non-sales)
- Hands-on understanding of common devops tools and practices
- Experience with Dhall/Haskell or Rust, Kubernetes, Docker Compose
- Clovyrâs configuration manifests are written in Dhall. Prior experience with Dhall is not required, but you must be willing to learn. Experience with Haskell, Rust, or another functional programming language is a good indicator youâll enjoy Dhall
- Clovyrâs configuration manifests use the most common pieces of Kubernetes. You do not need to be a deep Kubernetes expert, but you should have basic knowledge and willingness to learn more if needed
- Desire to dig into challenges and figure things out. You love to troubleshoot and test and then help others learn from your experience
- Ability to clearly articulate technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to context switch between hands-on development work and customer-facing work
- If you donât have prior sales experience, you should have a track record of presentations, demos, conference talks, etc. and a desire to do client-facing work
- Ideally youâve got hands-on experience running self-hosted apps & services, on-prem b2b software and/or your own home server, e.g. GitLab, NextCloud, etc.
- Ideally youâve got hands-on experience or interest in deeply understanding deployment considerations of privacy-conscious and/or p2p systems e.g. self-hosted VPNs, Mastodon, etc
Our culture
Clovyr's tools exist in support of a freer, more democratic world. We build systems that assume privacy is a human right, freedom of speech does not imply freedom from consequences, and free open-source software is free as in "free puppy."
People are unique, teams are diverse. Our leadership has advocated and organized for more systemic and intersectional inclusion in tech for more than 15 years.
Clovyr is an equal opportunity employer.
