Leader in Home to double the size of its engineering team in the heart of Germany’s capital city Wayfair, one of the world’s largest online destinations for the home, today announced plans to hire an additional 500 technologists to join its world-class engineering organization in Berlin over the next three years.

As an industry-leading technology company that is transforming the Home category at a massive scale, Wayfair's global team of more than 3,000 engineers and data scientists is building a leading edge ecommerce platform to drive seamless experiences for customers at every step of the shopping journey. At its European headquarters in Berlin, the company is fostering a global community of world-class technologists to further advance the innovative technologies that make Wayfair the best place to shop for home.

“As Wayfair further solidifies its position as the leader in home, we are excited to continue to build a diverse team at our Berlin headquarters,” said Bernie Miles, Director of Engineering for Europe, Wayfair. “We’re thrilled to double our engineering team in Germany’s capital city as we continue to evolve our team to support the rapid growth of the business. These new roles are a strong commitment to our European headquarters and will allow us to continue to build and foster a global community of sophisticated technologists who are powering the best possible shopping experience for home.”

Located in an iconic, newly renovated office building in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz, Wayfair’s European headquarters is currently home to team members from more than 80 different countries. Technologists joining the diverse team in Berlin will help drive a wide range of solutions, from cutting-edge machine learning and data science techniques that help customers find just the right product among more than one million items in Europe, to a proprietary end-to-end logistics network that is rapidly scaling fast and frictionless deliveries as well as a seamless shopping experience across Wayfair’s European markets.

“Wayfair’s company culture is characterized by an entrepreneurial mindset and teams enjoy a high level of ownership and accountability for their work, which helps drive exceptional business outcomes,” said Bernie Miles. “Wayfair employees are encouraged to take intelligent risks and are empowered to build advanced in-house technology. Our startup-like, fast-paced environment offers countless opportunities for professional and personal development.” The company offers its employees equity ownership in the business alongside competitive benefits, including yearly bonuses.
